Understanding Map Layers
Available Map Layers
The map supports a wide range of data layers that can be toggled from the Layer Panel. Availability depends on your subscription tier and which layers the site administrator has enabled.
Incident Layers
- CAD / PulsePoint Incidents — Live incident markers from dispatch feeds.
- CHP Traffic Incidents — California Highway Patrol traffic incidents.
Fire Layers
- CAL FIRE Incidents — Active CAL FIRE incidents.
- CAL FIRE Perimeters — Fire perimeter polygons from CAL FIRE.
- NIFC Wildfires — National Interagency Fire Center active wildfires.
- NGFS Fire Alerts — Next Generation Fire System alerts.
- VIIRS/MODIS Thermal Hotspots — Satellite-detected heat signatures from NASA FIRMS (Pro+).
- Satellite Burned Area — Satellite imagery of burned areas (Pro+).
Weather Layers
- NWS Weather Alerts — National Weather Service watches, warnings, and advisories as map polygons.
- Xweather Radar — Live radar overlay (Pro+).
- Xweather Wind — Wind speed and direction overlay (Pro+).
- Xweather Lightning — Lightning strike data (Pro+).
- RAWS Stations — Remote Automated Weather Stations showing fire-weather observations.
- Synoptic Stations — Mesonet weather station data (Pro+).
- Spot Forecasts — NWS spot forecast locations.
Infrastructure Layers
- Power Outages — Current power outage areas.
- SCE PSPS Areas — Southern California Edison Public Safety Power Shutoff zones.
- Evacuation Zones — Genasys evacuation zone overlays.
- Fire Stations — Fire station locations.
Other Layers
- Aircraft Tracking — Live ADS-B aircraft positions, useful for tracking firefighting aircraft (Pro+).
Layer availability may change as the administrator adjusts the tier feature matrix. If a layer isn't visible in your panel, it may require a higher subscription tier.
